Valentines day..and others

So you know it is valentines day. I think this "holiday" was a conspiracy to sell more cards, candy and flowers. I would prefer cards, candy and flowers on any other day. I don't want my husband to have to do something but want to. And I know he loves me always, not just today.

So I will give you a list of other holidays today if you are in the same boat as me and don't really care about valentines day.

It is national ferris wheel day. FYI  I have never ridden on a ferris wheel. I don't like them.

It is national read to your child day. I don't have kids but if you do, read to them today they will appreciate it.

It is national league of women voters day. The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, has fought since 1920 to improve our systems of government and impact public policies through citizen education and advocacy.  (according to their website)

It is national clean out your computer day. I keep my computer pretty cleaned up so  all good there.

So there are a few other holidays to pick from to celebrate today if you don't like valentines day.  But just in case.. Happy Valentines Day!

That all :)

  1. Funny! I just read your post after reading the girls two new books that they got today:) I don't celebrate Valentine's as a day of romance, I just celebrate those that I love. We took the girls to lunch and a movie on Saturday as their "present" and we made cupcakes yesterday to share with our family. Here is hoping you have a great 14th of February regardless of how you choose to celebrate it! Hugs!

Good mom and girl time reading with them. I know in all seriousness that is special time reading with your kids.

  3. I have never really celebrated Valentines Day. I do get a little heart shaped box of candy (about 4 pieces) for each of the grands. No cards, no special dinner, just that little box of candy. The strange thing is that I buy those little boxes (only square) a couple of times a year to give to them, so they will know that I am thinking about them. I have always bought them books/clothes through out the year, just 'because I love them'.

I think if one expects something special on Valentines Day, but does not get that something special the rest of the year, they are missing out! Just my humble opinion.

  4. Keli,
Totally agree. An unexpected gift of candy to the grands is extra special because it not expected.
Hubs will surprise me with things through out the year, usually not flowers because they die but other things. That is pretty good to me too.

  5. I agree with you both...it nice to get a reminder to tell those that we love how we feel, but it is important to do that all year long. Mike and I don't buy each other gifts for any holiday...maybe a card here and there. What we really value (especially with our kids so young) is time...sharing a meal in peace, going on a short vacation alone...we also love the time spent with the kids, but that is pretty much 24/7:)
